Care Instructions

Now that you've gotten tattooed (you freak), you have to take care of it.

Follow the steps below and your tattoo will love you and be loyal for life.

  1. Remove the bandage after 4 hours. Do not re-bandage.
  2. Wash your tattoo with luke warm water and a mild soap. Don't scrub it, dab it. Gently pat dry with a clean towel.
  3. Apply a thin layer of Vitamin A&D ointment. Do not use antibiotic or anti-bacterial ointments, as they may cause allergic reactions.
  4. Cleanse your tattoo twice daily, using luke warm water and a mild soap.
  5. Use ointment during the first three days, 3 or 4 times a day. Make sure your hands are clean before touching your tattoo.

  1. After the first three days, apply a thin layer of moisturizing lotion 4 to 6 times a day for the next 2 to 3 weeks. We recommend Nature's Gate, Lubriderm or some other chemical free, unperfumed lotion.
  2. Normal healing time is 2 to 4 weeks.
  3. Don't pick or scratch your tattoo. Flaking or peeling is a natural part of the healing process.
  4. Don't soak your tattoo during healing. That means no baths, hot tubs, pools, etc.
  5. Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while it's healing.
  6. After your tattoo is healed, always use sunblock while in the sun, preferably 30 to 45 SPF. And moisturize your skin with lotion. It'll help keep your colors fresh.
